SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Magnolia Business Association- Saturday Street Sales featuring Arts, Crafts, and Garage items will be available on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month from 8:00 am until 12:00 noon.  Spaces will be available on a first registration basis and are located on West Railroad Avenue North between Bay Street and Magnolia Street.  There is a fee of  $5.00 per space and pre-registration is suggested.  For information call 601-783-3022, or register at Depot Real Estate or Sunshine Coffeehouse, at 125 W. Railroad Ave. N.

Sunshine Art Studio & Soiree- Now available is the opportunity to learn how to paint your own art works and develop the skills and techniques necessary to do this.  Sessions are held each Wednesday at 7:00 pm at the Sunshine Coffeehouse and Cafe located at 125 W. Mardi Gras Parade and Festival-  Dates for the Festival will be Feb. 13th and 14th, 2010.   Entertainment, crafts, food, and children's rides- Vendor booths available.  The festival and parade will be held on the Saturday before Mardi Gras each year.  This is good family fun.  Come and enjoy fellowship with your friends.  A good time will be had by all.  For further details and phone numbers see the parade application under "event applications" on this web.  For additional info go to www.magnoliamardigras.com.

 

                      

Azalea Festival Events

Azalea Trail   (March and April of each year)

Tour of Historic Churches, Dates to be announced**  2 PM.
Magnolia will honor its religious history by offering informative tours of its historic churches.  The tour will include visits to two of the older churches in Magnolia and stops at other churches in the area.  Cost for tours is $$ per person.  Reservations are needed as seating is limited. 

Magnolia Tour of Homes and luncheon.  Date (to be announced)   The driving tour through Magnolia will include its two historic districts.  The Southtown Historic District has a variety of late nineteenth century homes, including three of Mississippi's premiere Queen Anne residences.  The Myrtle Street Historic District is said to represent a typical neighborhood at the turn of the 20th century.  Cost for tours  is $25.00 per person.  This cost includes lunch.  Reservations are needed as seating is limited.  For tour and lunch reservations call 601-783-5211. 

  "Magnolia's Evening in Lights",  Date March 26, 2010, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.  A Celebration of the Lighted Azalea Festival.   A candlelit night with food and music located at Magnolia's North Railroad Park.  Tickets- Adults $12.00.  If you would like, bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the music without charge.  In case of rain, "Evening in Lights" will be held in the historic Depot.

Date to be announced- Confederate Memorial Day Ceremony held in the Historic Confederate Cemetery.  Laying of wreaths honoring  all Civil War veterans.  Free, donations accepted.

  Magnolia Antique and Craft Fair, 9 am to 3 pm, downtown square.  Free.  Come buy, sell or trade.  Browse shops of "Antique Row" for period antiques, collectibles, primitives, war memorabilia and architectural elements.

  Historic Cemetery Tour.  Historic characters from Magnolia's past will speak to you on this candlelight guided tour through the cemetery-not for the faint-hearted.

Date to be announced.- Pilgrimage Tour of historic homes.  Tour some of the homes in Magnolia's Historic Districts.  Expect to be taken back in time by lovely hoop-skirted ladies, magnolias, and jasmine.  1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  $5.00 per home.

Date to be announced- Magnolia Porches.  A tasting tea.  Enjoy garden music, delicious hors d'oeuvres and sip one of our "Famous" Magnolias.  Step out to the garden to view our Annual Spring Art Show & Sale, featuring some of  Pike Counties' talented artists.  3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  $10 per person.

Magnolia Garden Club's Annual Flower Show - Date to be announced- from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  Free.

 Southwest Mississippi Art Guild will have its annual Art Show.  Date to be announced.   

 

Farmer's Market (June 5 -August 28, 2010, Saturday mornings 8 a.m.-12 noon)

 

Scarecrow Exhibit (October, 2010)  City-wide displays

 October 24, 2009 - "Crypt Tales on the Square."  Stroll to some of our historic downtown businesses, by candlelit lanterns to visit the deceased business owners of the past.  $10:00 for adults, children free.  Light refreshments.

October 24, 2009 through December 8, 2009- Smithsonian Institute's Traveling Exhibit "Journey Stories" are tales of how we and our ancestors came to America and how they moved around in respect to Transportation, Migration, and Immigration.

Citywide Garage Sale.  (November 7, 2009)

November 7, 2009- 3rd annual "Taste of Magnolia" to be held in the Historic Railroad Park.  Sample delicacies from our local restaurants, cafe's and lunch counters.  11:00 am to 2:00 pm.  $1.00 per sample.  Musical entertainment will be provided.

 

Christmas Parade - December 4, 2009 at 5:30 pm.
